Discovering EPS

Sintered expanded polystyrene (EPS – commonly called polystyrene) is an amazing material.

Discovered in the 1940s, for a fortunate chance, the possibility of expanding polystyrene (PS, thermoplastic resin obtained by polymerization of styrene monomer obtained from the synthesis of ethylene and benzene). Since then, EPS has been applied in a wide variety of ways and is able to adapt to the ever-changing needs of the market.

For decades it has been a privileged material in the packaging sector, but also ideal ally in the production of helmets, today it has found a space until a few years ago unthinkable in the construction field, that has enhanced its isolation functions and seems to have very good chances also to face the most recent challenges represented by “structural” and “ecological” uses.

Characteristics and strengths

EPS has many qualities:

  • economic;
  • very light;
  • clean, neutral, stable and non-toxic;
  • does not contain chlorofluorocarbons;
  • preserves the forest saving cellulose and allows to reduce the weight of packaging;
  • It is produced without polluting water resources and is entirely recyclable.
EPS, fantastic material: where to find it?

Interest in EPS is constantly increasing, also due to its excellent properties that make it applicable in various contexts. Many requests have been received, also due to our capability to mold different materials. In addition, thanks to the uniqueness of the presses, we are able to satisfy every need.

Thanks to the currently limited availability and the constantly increasing prices of plastics, the timing of the requests is likely to increase.

To have priority, contact us here, leaving your name and explaining your needs. You will receive our documentation with the case history of those who relied on us and a deepening on the material.

At this delicate moment, we decided to help companies in difficulty, offering a free first consultation with our technicians. Don’t miss this opportunity!
